NFC News, which covers the near field communications (NFC) marketplace, recently reported on the challenges with mobile devices, identity and security. In the article "The Mobile ID Experiment" editor Zack Martin explains that the NFC industry finds itself in the midst of a great experiment surrounding the policies that govern mobile devices and credentials. Existing policies need to be changed or new policy created from scratch to deal with the unique challenges mobile devices present to an enterprise.

Easy And Secure Authentication on the Mobile

Individuals want to do more and more with their mobile devices, but often the device itself is unprotected because security requirements are too cumbersome. The article describes how Confident Technologies' image-based authentication technology increases provides strong security while remaining easy for people to use. The technology enrolls a user in the system by picking categories of photos. The user then must identify specific images that fit their categories in order t log in. The images presented to the user are different every time, forming a unique, one-time authentication code every time. All the user needs to remember is a few categories and then look, for pictures that fit those categories.

"You get the usability without forsaking the security," says Confident Technologies CEO Curtis Staker in the article.
